Admissions

THE JOURNEY STARTS HERE

Welcome to Admissions!

You may be considering the Anglophone Section because we have an almost 100% acceptance rate in some year groups for candidates with a very good English level. Or maybe it is our small classes or the lack of catchment-area constraints for Section students. Maybe you are looking at Fontainebleau because it is such a vibrant, international town with many opportunities right in the heart of a world-renowned forest. Whatever the reason, we are happy to see you here! Our role, as admissions team, is to accompany and guide your every step of the application journey.

Before you apply

  • Level – The students of the Anglophone Section have a native or near-native English level in all aspects of the language. Following a dual-language programme is challenging and candidates need to be academically able and highly motivated. Complete fluency in both oral and written French is also required for seconde and première admission. Students with no or little French can benefit from Français Langue Etrangère classes in the other years.
  • Test – To become a student in the Anglophone Section of one of the three French public schools, applicants need to successfully complete an age-appropriate English language entrance test.
  • Places – Every year, in most year groups, places become available that can be filled with candidates who have successfully completed the admissions test.
  • Timing – At the time of the test, we have little visibility on the number of potential places, but by the end of May, we can start confirming places.
  • Deadline – There is no deadline for applications but we strongly encourage candidates to sign up at least two weeks before the testing date.

  • Terminale – We unfortunately do not accept candidates for year 13/grade 12.
