The Proviseur of the Lycée François 1er, Mr Carton and the director of the Anglophone Section, Mr Corrigan, organised a commemoration ceremony in the courtyard of the school on the occasion of the state funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth II. It was attended by pupils and teachers from the three schools on the campus as well as dignitaries from the town council. Two of our students participated: Lucy reminisced about her meeting with the queen ten years ago and Emily recited Floral Tribute, poem composed by Poet Laureate, Simon Armitage, to mark the passing of the late Queen. Mr Fortin, musical director of the Pays de Fontainebleau philharmonic orchestra and music teacher lead the choir and harpists in a rousing rendition of the British national anthem. It was a moving moment and fitting homage to the long-reigning monarch.
