SCHOLARSHIPFinancial Need Scholarship
To support a diverse and inclusive community, the Anglophone Section of Fontainebleau offers a Financial Need Scholarship for outstanding students whose families are unable to pay the Section fees.
This scholarship covers:
- Tuition fees
- Exam fees
- Registration fees
- Association fees
for the successful candidate(s) during their time in the Lycée.
The scholarship is normally awarded on entry to Seconde and covers the full three years of Lycée, subject to annual renewal conditions. In exceptional cases, a scholarship may be awarded to a candidate entering Première. The estimated total value of the scholarship over three years is €10,000.
Who is eligible?
To be considered for the Financial Need Scholarship, a candidate must:
- Be a new applicant to the Anglophone Section (never previously enrolled in the Section).
- Have paid the testing fees or have been tested following a recommendation from the Principal of a French public collège, and have completed the usual entry tests for the Section.
- As a result of the testing, have an offer of admission to Seconde (or, exceptionally, Première) in the Section Internationale Britannique at the Lycée François 1er in Fontainebleau, with the aim of pursuing the BFI.
- Have an outstanding academic and behavioural record.
- Provide evidence that the family cannot afford the annual Section fees.

The Scholarship shall be granted on the recommendation of the Director of the Section and the approval of the Parents’ Board. The Board may accept Scholarship recommendations provided that no more than two Scholarship holders are enrolled in the Section at any one time.
